'Tis the season, and this is a GREAT time of year for photoshoots!
#1 - TURN OFF your on-camera flash!
This will just blow out the lights and annoy your fellow holiday-goers. Turn it off. NOW.
DRESS WARM
Scarves and gloves are a must!
(Bonus points for working them into your costume!)
BRING A TRIPOD/ Find a solid surface
Set your camera for long exposures to burn in all those lovely glowing lights! (Most of these shots are 1/8 sec or longer)
Long exposure = Handshake. If you lack a tripod, find something else solid to set your camera on. (staircase, ledge, tree, etc.)
GET LIGHT ON YOUR SUBJECTS
Yes, I know I just told you to turn the on-camera flash off.
Now either use your strobes or find another light source (streetlamp.)
No Flash = Silhouettes (which can also be nice!)
Streetlight/Off-camera flash = We can see the model
BLUR THE LIGHTS
...yeah I'm trying to write something catchy but I keep getting distracted by attractive superheroes. Oh well! You get the idea!
Did the tips help? Share share share! Or just post or Reblog with your favorite holiday shots anyway, because I am a sap and love seeing them. :D
