Urgh. I am so tired of screens. The last two weekends have been devoted to computer work. It's all nitty-gritty things like prepping tutorials, booking cons, marketing calendars.. all necessary pursuits, but not much fun. The walls closed in, the cat sat judging me, and I'm pretty sure I started swearing in Dothraki.
Only one cure for that - going outside to play!
Fortunately, I had a shoot to get me out of the house - a couple's session with Kristina and Vince in one of my favorite locations, the Park of Roses in Clintonville. Yes, some fresh air, flowers, and a romantic photoshoot would be just the ticket out of the winter doldrums!
Only we got to the park and... no roses. Anywhere. Turns out its been too cold for any blooms yet. Oops. (Two very important lessons here - scout your location and research the seasons of flowers!)
Ah well. There was sunshine and plenty of greenery. Most importantly, there were people ready for photos! As we started shooting, I got wrapped up in Kristina and Vince's easy affection. As they joked and climbed trees, the flowers became an afterthought - I wanted to capture them, and really what else did I need?
In the end, the roses didn't matter at all. I can shoot portraits without flowers. All I really need is people willing to have a good time in front of my lens! So thank you Kristina and Vince, for getting me out of the house and giving me a great reminder of why I do all the nitty-gritty. Cheers!
How about you? What are your plans for spring?
